About the Northside Homeless Alliance

Using the tools of advocacy, education and community engagement, the Northside Homeless Alliance exists as a collaboration of organizations to end homelessness on the Northside of Pittsburgh.

Founded in 2015, the core objectives of the Northside Homeless Alliance are to:

  • Develop meaningful policy change that supports the alleviation of homelessness
  • Use evidence-based practices in providing direct services to the homeless
  • Educate and engage the community in caring for the homeless
  • Foster open communication between the homeless and other community members

Since 2015, the organizations of the Northside Homeless Alliance have accomplished the following:

  • Helped secure housing for hundreds of people experiencing homelessness
  • Trained City Police officers and Pittsburgh Public School Security Guards and teachers on homeless engagement best practices
  • Cleaned over 10 tons of garbage from various abandoned outdoor homeless camps
  • Held open discussion forums for local neighborhood groups
  • Fed and clothed over 1500 individuals in community outreach events
  • Started the Finding Ways Home Conference to train regional service providers in effective service to the homeless
  • Took over 150 homeless men and women fishing in North Park
